IRVING, Texas – A day after earning the Commissioner's Postgraduate Leadership Award, Memphis women's soccer alumna Stasia Mallin added another accolade to her résumé in being named the American Athletic Conference's Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Chosen by the AAC's faculty athletics representatives, Wednesday's announcement marks the second-straight year Memphis women's soccer has touted the accolade after Elizabeth Woerner was named conference's Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year last season.
Mallin will receive a $2,000 scholarship from the league office, which can be applied to graduate or professional studies in addition to a $5,000 scholarship attached to her Commissioner's Postgraduate Leadership Award announced Tuesday.
