HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Forced to compete with only four golfers because of illness to Rodi Vlasveld, the University of Memphis battled gallantly during windy conditions at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tuesday and ultimately gained a fourth place finish behind champion TCU, runnerup Georgia and Furman.
The Tigers shot 22-over 310 during the three rounds of the tournament, two of which were played Monday at the par-72, 6,913-yard course.
TCU closed at 11-under 853, which included an impressive 3-under 285 Tuesday. Georgia shot 287 for a three-round total of 10-under 854.
