Trahson Burrell and KJ Lawson made their first starts of the season and were both outstanding in leading Memphis to a 77-65 win over Tulane in the American Athletic Conference Opener Tuesday at FedExForum.
Earning his first start of the season, Burrell scored 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Senior Shaq Goodwin came off the bench for the first time since early last season and finished with 17 points.
Burrell hit his first three-pointer of the game, and just the Tigers' second, to restore the Memphis lead back to eight points, 58-50, with 8:21 left to play.
