Memphis senior forward Valerie Sanderson was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following her performances from the opening weekend of the season.
Sanderson started her season off with an assist on Marie Levasseur's game-tying goal in the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana. She then notched her first goal of the new campaign to make the Tigers' lead 3-1 over the Lions.
The Boisbriand, Quebec native, was lethal in Sunday's match against Western Kentucky, scoring two goals to give Memphis a 2-0 win. Sanderson scored her first goal on a header from a corner kick in the 67th minute and sealed the win with another headed goal, this time from a free kick, in the 71st minute.
