MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Former Tiger Joe Salisbury's remarkable run in the Gentlemen's Doubles Draw at Wimbledon came to a close Thursday after he and partner Frederik Nielsen dropped a four-set decision to the 13-seeded team of Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus, 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Salisbury, who became the first former Tiger to advance past the third round of a Wimbledon doubles event earlier in the tournament, currently sits at a career-high doubles ranking of No. 41.
Thursday's match began much like Salisbury and Nielsen's quarterfinal round with a tiebreak in the first set. After a back-and-forth to open the tiebreak, Klaasen collected a service winner to lead 7-6 and followed with another point to take the first set.
