MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis graduate student set a school record in the women's 5000 meters to lead the Tigers' effort in rainy first-day action at the Rhodes College Invitational Friday.
The Rhodes Invitational is the outdoor season opener for Memphis. Action in the two-day meet continues Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
Rodriguez Sala, who returns for her final outdoor campaign in 2018, won the women's 5000 meters in a school-record time of 16:34.51. Her time bettered the previous school record by 14 seconds and broke a mark that stood for 11 seasons (16:48.
