MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis senior kicker Riley Patterson made a 47-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Tigers to a 30-27 win over Houston on Saturday at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
The game-winning kick was Patterson's third field goal of the game. He also made kicks of 34 and 49 yards as the Tigers closed out the 2020 regular season with a win.
Memphis (7-3, 5-3 American Athletic Conference) held a 17-6 advantage over Houston (3-4, 3-3) at halftime. The Tigers kept the Cougars out of the end zone until 13 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the longest Houston had been held without a touchdown to start a game this season.
