The 49ers will reportedly release one of their reserve offensive linemen.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The San Francisco 49ers will release reserve center Nick Easton, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Caplan.
Easton was made active over the 49ers' last two games after acquiring him from the Baltimore Ravens Sept. 5 in a trade for an undisclosed draft pick.
San Francisco's makeshift offensive line hasn't fared well since head coach Jim Tomsula announced the starting five-man group prior to the final preseason game. Center Marcus Martin, right guard Jordan Devey and right tackle Erik Pears, in particular, have been scrutinized for their lack of production while the 49ers enter Sunday's game against the New York Giants with the NFL's lowest-scoring offense.
