PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A strong rally fell short Friday evening, as Memphis women's tennis dropped a 4-3 decision at Brown to open the weekend.
After dropping the opening doubles point, Memphis (8-7) sought a comeback bid in singles play, taking the match the distance.
Brown (8-6) claimed the doubles point with wins at courts 2 and 3. Duo and held a 5-4 lead before the top spot was left unfinished.
In singles, Bente was first off the court with a 6-1, 6-1 decision to draw the overall match even.
Brown claimed a 3-1 advantage after wins on courts 3 and 4 when Memphis offered one final rally.
