PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis' Ashley Pryke has been named the American Athletic Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. It is Pryke's second weekly conference honor of the 2017 outdoor season and also the second of her career.
At the Apr. 21-22 Red Wolves Open, Pryke won the women's javelin with a school-record 177-5 (54.09m) throw. Pryke's javelin mark surpassed her previous school record by nearly two feet (175-3; 53.41m). Her previous school record was set in the 2017 season-opening Rhodes Invitational Mar. 17-18.
Pryke first set the Tigers women's javelin record her freshman campaign in 2016.
