MEMPHIS – Junior tight end Daniel Montiel was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team and will now appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot it was announced, Thursday. Montiel, a two-year letterwinner at Memphis, has played in all eight games this season, starting at tight end in the Tigers' last game, a 41-13 win over Tulane.
On the season, Montiel, a native of Arlington, Texas, has six catches for 56 yards and two touchdowns and has played in 27 career games. An accounting major with a 3.72 GPA, Montiel has twice been a member of the American Athletic Conference All-Academic team and has been a member of the Tiger 3.
