MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Freshman catcher Dafne Mercado had quite the week for the Tigers, including her first collegiate homerun, that earned her a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor, the conference announced on Monday.
Mercado, a native of Coppell, Texas, went 3-7 from the plate with a homerun, her first in a Memphis jersey, while driving in three runs. Her .429 BA led the team this past week as well as her three RBI. Behind the plate, Mercado caught six runners stealing, three of them in a single game.
This is the first AAC Honor Roll award for Mercado.
