VERO BEACH, Fla. – The University of Memphis men's golf team may have finished third in the Quail Valley Intercollegiate that ended Monday, but the Tigers re-wrote the program's record book in the process.
Freshman Phuripon Namkang and senior Rodi Vlasveld each shot final-round 5-under 67s Monday to help the UofM fire a record-setting round of 271 for a three-round total of 824 (also a record). Additionally, the Tigers established records for low round vs. par (-17) and low 36 holes (553).
For the tournament, Memphis shot 40-under par, three shots behind champion Notre Dame (821) and two shots behind USF (822).
