NEW ORLEANS, La. – After an impressive performance at Saturday's Greater Louisville Classic, the University of Memphis men's cross country squad grabbed its first regional ranking of the 2019 season on Tuesday, entering this week's U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region poll in the No. 13 spot.
Memphis is the only team in the South Region to jump into the poll after not being ranked last week. The Tigers are one of five American Athletic Conference programs ranked among the USTFCCCA's nine regional polls.
In the Oct. 5 Greater Louisville Classic, Memphis placed eighth out of 41 teams and finished ahead of three regionally-ranked teams in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
