CINCINNATI — Behind an impressive performance in defense and goals from Kimberley Smit and Lisa Pechersky, the Memphis women's soccer team defeated Cincinnati 2-0 on Thursday.

The Tigers (5-1 overall, 4-0 AAC) have yet to allow a goal in four American Athletic Conference games this season. They are unbeaten in their last 16 regular-season conference games dating back to the 2018 season.

In the 42nd minute, a free kick from well outside the box slipped through the hands of Cincinnati goalkeeper Anna Rexford, took a deflection and crossed the goal line.
