Memphis outlasted Southern, 72-67, Tuesday night at FedExForum with a visit from the Ole Miss Rebels on Friday night looming. KJ Lawson put up 15 second-half points and finished with a team-high 16 points to lead the Tigers to victory over the Jaguars.
The two teams were knotted 29-29 at halftime after a half-court heave from Avery Woodson that would have given Memphis the lead was waved off after review.
Trahson Burrell added 15 points and eight rebounds off of the bench. Ricky Tarrant, Jr. and Dedric Lawson finished with 11 points each.
