MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In their return home after three consecutive weekend road tournaments, the Memphis Tigers (7-4) picked up a straight-set victory over Arkansas – Pine Bluff (1-11) but fell in three sets to Arkansas State (8-3).

Set 1

  • Memphis held leads of 3-0, 8-4, and 12-9, but UAPB rallied to tie it each time
  • Ahead 14-13, the Tigers rattled off seven straight points to lead 21-13
  • Memphis scored the final four points to take the set
  • Loren Robertson nearly picked up a double-double in the opening set with nine assists and six digs

Set 2

  • The set featured five lead changes and 11 ties; more than the other two sets combined
  • UAPB led 9-7 and 13-11 before two kills from Miaya Smith capped a 3-0 that gave Memphis the lead
  • Tied 15-15, Memphis ran off seven straight points to take command of the set

Set 3

  • A 4-0 Memphis run put the Tigers in front 6-2 and they led the rest of the way
  • Memphis pushed the lead to a set-high nine points at 22-13 with a 4-0 run

Set 2

  • Arkansas State opened the set on a 5-1 run and didn't trail until the Tigers took the lead 17-16
  • Down 18-16, the Red Wolves scored eight of nine points to lead 24-19 and won the set two points later

  • After a kill by Josie Stanford put Arkansas State in front 2-1, the Red Wolves led the rest of the set
  • A 6-0 run by Arkansas State put the lead at a set-high seven points 10-3
  • The Tigers only got as close as three on two different occasions, 15-12 and 19-16

  • In her first start of the season, Loren Robertson had Memphis' only double-double against UAPB with 11 digs and 28 assists
