HOUSTON, Texas – The Memphis offense pounded out 17 hits on the way to a 12-4 series-opening win over Houston at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park Friday night. For the second time this season, Memphis (16-30, 7-9 American) had all nine starters record a hit in the game.
Memphis will go for the series win over Houston in Game 2 Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Colton Hathcock picked up the win after pitching five innings and allowing four runs on nine hits. Relievers Colton Neel and Nolan Blackwood combined to keep the Cougars off the board in the sixth through ninth innings.
