Memphis Goes Wire-to-Wire in 11-3 Win Over Green Wave

NEW ORLEANS – In the first game of the final series of the regular season, the Memphis Tigers (24-26, 8-14) scored twice in the top of the first inning and never relinquished the lead in an 11-3 win over the Tulane Green Wave (30-23-1, 10-12). The win moved the Tigers into a tie for sixth place in the AAC standings with just two games remaining.

How it happened:

  • The Tigers got three-straight one-out hits in the top of the first inning, as an RBI single by LF Ian Bibiloni put Memphis in front 1-0, while 3B Logan Kohler followed with a sacrifice fly, as the Tigers led 2-0 after half an inning
  • Gartman struck out the side in the bottom of the first on just 11 pitches and retired the first 10 that he faced, 15 of the 16 he faced overall, and matched a season-high with 10 strikeouts
  • Memphis added three runs in the second, as an RBI groundout by 2B Braden Webb made it 3-0, while consecutive two-out RBI hits from SS Ben Brooks and DH Jacob Compton, which made it 5-0 Memphis after 1.
