MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Memphis baseball dropped the first of two midweek games at Middle Tennessee, falling 6-1 on Tuesday at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
For the second straight game, the Tigers out hit their opponent in a setback. The Tigers tallied a hit in six of the nine innings, but left a total of 10 runners on base to Middle Tennessee's two.
Four Tigers had multiple-hit efforts, with senior driving in the Tigers' lone run.
Middle Tennessee plated three runs on three hits in the third inning to build its early cushion.
The Tigers led off the sixth with four consecutive singles to get on the board, but a fly out and strikeout prevented further damage.
