MEMPHIS, Tenn. – UConn took both games of a doubleheader, winning 10-1 in the opener and 11-9 in Game 2, to claim the series win over Memphis Saturday at FedExPark. The two teams will play the series finale Sunday at noon.
The Huskies (24-18, 8-5 AAC) were fueled by a strong pitching performance by starter Anthony Kay in game one as they won 10-1. The lefty allowed one run over eight innings and struck out five batters.
Memphis (14-30, 5-9 AAC) scored its only run of the game after centerfielder Darien Tubbs singled on a push bunt with one out in the bottom of the third.
