FLORENCE, Ala. – A road trip to face the North Alabama Lions (8-19, 2-7) got off to a poor start for the Memphis Tigers (12-13, 0-3) and never got any better, as Memphis fell behind 5-0 after one inning in an eventual 10-0, seven inning loss. The defeat was the eighth straight for the Tigers and the second shutout loss over that stretch.
Memphis: 0, North Alabama: 10
WP: Austin Nichols (1-5)
LP: David Warren (0-2)
SV: N/A
How it happened:
- Warren didn't record an out in the start, as all four batters that he faced reached base and eventually scored
- LHP JT Durham relieved Warren after a bases loaded walk and walked each of the first two batters that he faced, which each forced in a run, while RF Zak Majer followed with a two-run single that gave the Lions a 5-0 lead in the first inning
- North Alabama added two more in the third off of Durham in the third, as consecutive singles from 3B Jonathan Lane and 2B Drew Hudson started the frame and both came around to score, as North Alabama led 7-0 after three innings
- Nichols, who entered the night 0-5 with an 11.
