MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis avoided being swept for a third consecutive weekend with a 3-2 weather-shortened win over UConn Sunday at FedExPark. The game was called with two outs in the top of the seventh inning due to inclement weather.
Starting pitcher Jonthan Bowlan allowed just three hits in 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his first career weekend start. The freshman also started Tuesday against Belmont and allowed just one run in four innings. For the week Bowlan pitched 9 2/3 innings and allowed just one run on six hits.
Memphis broke the scoreless deadlock in the bottom of the fourth inning when designated hitter Colton Neel drove in a run with an RBI groundout.
