MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis today announced a partnership with Mayor Strickland and the City of Memphis to provide toys to under-privileged children in the Memphis area.
"There's nothing like the spark of hope and excitement in a child's eyes when they receive a new toy," said Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland. "As we celebrate Christmas, we must remember the folks who are still struggling, especially our children, so I hope those who are able will give."
The program will provide incentive for people in the Memphis area by offering a free men's basketball ticket for each new and unwrapped toy for the following home men's basketball games: Saturday December 10 vs.
