MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis football's Quindell Johnson was named to the prestigious Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List on Monday, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame (OSHOF) and Jim Thorpe Association announced. The Thorpe Award is presented annually to the best defensive back in college football.
Earlier this month, Johnson was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List powered by Mammoth Tech, which is presented annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football.
Johnson also had a tremendous season for Memphis is 2020, earning Second-Team All-AAC accolades after totaling a team-high 81 tackles and three interceptions to go with two tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a blocked kick.
