PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis freshman guard Jamirah Shutes has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week for her performances this past week against UConn and Houston. This is the second Freshman of the Week honor for Shutes this season.
Shutes led Memphis offensively this week, averaging 15.5 points while pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game. Against Houston on Sunday, Shutes scored a team-high 20 points, marking the fifth time this season she has scored at least 20 points in a game. No other freshman in the league has achieved that feat.
