CLEARWATER, Fla. – Ahead of the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships, Memphis freshman Hunter Goodman was tabbed the AAC Newcomer Position Player of the Year while the Tigers also landed a pair of players on all-conference teams, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
In addition to being selected the league's Newcomer Position Player of the Year, Goodman also received first-team accolades as an outfielder. On the mound, redshirt junior Chris Durham was named to the AAC second team.
Goodman earned Memphis' first Newcomer of the Year honor since the Tigers joined The American and became the first player in program history to earn a league's rookie award since Dan Guehne in 1994 (Great Midwest Conference).
