MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis left-handed pitcher Dalton Fowler was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, the conference announced Monday. In addition, Fowler was one of four athletes to earn a unanimous First Team All-AAC selection.
Fowler's 104 strikeouts over 78.1 innings are the 19th-most in the country this year. In American play, Fowler was dominant – compiling a 3-2 record with a 3.09 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 46.2 innings. The hard-throwing lefty racked up a dozen strikeouts in five innings against Tulane on April 1 and followed that up with a seven-inning, 13-strikeout and two-hit performance in a win over Cincinnati on April 7.
