MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois jumped out to a big lead and held on to beat Memphis 10-9 Saturday at FedExPark. With the loss, the Tigers (2-4) will be playing to salvage the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
Memphis trailed by five runs on three separate occasions and almost every time they managed to cut into the lead, EIU would extend it back out.
Tigers hitters were held down Friday in the series opener and bounced back some in the Saturday loss. All nine Memphis starters had at least one hit in the game and six Tigers had multiple hits.
