MEMPHIS – Sophomore men's tennis player Andrew Watson was named the American Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the month it was announced by the league office, Thursday.
In Watson's first matches of the fall, he went 2-1 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles at the Alabama Four-in-the-Fall tournament. On Sunday, he capped his tournament with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Notre Dame's Quentin Monaghan, the No. 5 ranked collegiate singles player in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings.
It's the second career monthly honor for Watson, who was named the player of the month following October last year when he won the Ohio Valley Regional singles championship.
