MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Tigers freshman Sophie Abrams, a Germantown, Tenn., native, has been named the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year along with earning unanimous All-Conference Team recognition.
Abrams played the No. 1 singles position for the Tigers and ended the season ranked No. 75 in the national Oracle/ITA rankings. She amassed an 11-7 dual match record and is Memphis' first rookie to be named The American's Freshman of the Year.
"We are extremely excited to hear of Sophie being recognized by the conference as both Freshman of the Year and all-conference," Tigers head coach Hayden Perez said.
