The Memphis Grizzlies are off to a somewhat-predictable start. They suddenly boast one of the NBA’s most promising young cores, but still aren’t winning many games.

Regardless of their record, the season has been an early success for Memphis. They’ve trended away from Grit-N-Grind’s dated ethos. They’ve competed with better teams. And they have two sensational rookies putting their rebuild way ahead of schedule.
With that in mind, it’s time for some First-Quarter Awards, dishing out respect where it’s due early in this Beale Street campaign.
