Late Wednesday night, after the NBA Moratorium period was over, the newest Memphis Grizzlies’ addition, Brandan Wright, put pen to paper and signed a multi-year contract in the presence of team officials, his family and one lucky guest.
Sergeant Brad Webb of the Memphis Police Department entered the home of Wright’s friend, dressed in his Sunday best, to witness his first-ever NBA contract signing – with a one-of-a-kind custom-created pen he handcrafted in Grizzlies blue and gold.
The 6-10 forward/center inked his new deal across from Webb and General Manager Chris Wallace, who orchestrated and intersected the interests of two otherwise strangers.
