Among other things, the Memphis Grizzlies were one of the most average scoring teams in the NBA last season. Weird phrasing, but it’s true — Memphis finished with the 15th-ranked scoring offense in the league.
The issue was never a lack of potential, as Memphis has a handful of players who can take over as a scorer. We saw Ja Morant having scoring outbursts, breaking a new playoff single-game scoring record with 47 points. This was part of a large handful of 30+ point scoring games from the Grizzlies’ young star.
