Senior Welma Luus led the No. 7 Maryland field hockey team to a 5-1 win over No. 10 Michigan and its second straight Big Ten Conference tournament championship Sunday.
Luus set a Big Ten record at Indiana with seven goals over three tournament games for the top-seeded Terps (19-3), including a career-high four against the second-seeded Wolverines (17-4).
"We’re ecstatic to win a tournament title," coach Missy Meharg said in a release. "We were here 12 months ago and played the same day. We learned a lot from those five days and put ourselves in a position to be back here again against a great Michigan.
