Maryland basketball players dressed in practice gear for an offseason team activity on Tuesday afternoon, but before they hit the gym to work out, each settled into a chair inside the team’s lounge at Xfinity Center and fixed eyes on a giant flat-screen television. They watched teammates Jared Nickens and Jaylen Brantley appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which was filmed a day earlier in Burbank, Calif. and focused on the Terps’ contributions in starting the Running Man Challenge.
Nickens and Brantley laughed along with DeGeneres as they retraced their path to viral stardom, which began several weeks ago with a video of the players dancing to the 1990s hit “My Boo.
