Maryland freshmen Joshua Tomiac and Micah Thomas both emerged from the locker room after Thursday’s 93-45 win over Saint Mary’s College ready to work. While Terrapins Coach Mark Turgeon emptied his bench against a vastly inferior opponent, both Tomiac and Thomas remained in their warm-ups and on the bench all evening. Turgeon said afterward that he is “contemplating” redshirting both players, although he was cautious not to reveal much more about his thought process on the issue.
“We don’t know yet. It’s too early to tell,” Turgeon said.
It’s a good issue to have, because Turgeon simply doesn’t have any more room in his rotation at the moment for a pair of raw but talented rookies.
