Maryland center Michal Cekovsky took another step toward returning from a left ankle injury earlier this week, shedding the walking boot that he has worn while missing the past four games. But the junior big man is unlikely to play when the Terps visit Illinois on Saturday, which will force senior Damonte Dodd to shoulder most of the load at center for a third consecutive game.
Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon did not specify when Cekovsky might be ready to return to the fold, and even when he does, the 7-foot-1 center will be gradually eased back into playing shape.
