Maryland wide receiver Juwann Winfree, who was suspended indefinitely last week by coach Randy Edsall, has withdrawn from the university, an athletic department spokesman said Wednesday.
No reason was given for the suspension -- his second following a two-game suspension last season when Winfree was a freshman -- though sources familiar with his situation said that it was the result of the talented receiver not following a number of team rules.
One of Winfree’s former teammates, Jaquille Veii, is likely headed to Towson, sources familiar with Veii said Wednesday.
Veii asked for his release from the Terps after spring practice, when it became apparent that he would likely be no better than the third-string tailback going into the fall.
