Terps pick up much-needed blowout win over Illinois in home finale

The ball moved. The shots fell. The defense stiffened. The opponent went down fairly quickly.

After falling out of the Top 10 for the first time all season, the Maryland men’s basketball team looked more like a Top 10 team than it had in more than a month, separating itself from Illinois early in the second half and celebrating Senior Night with a much-needed and easy 81-55 victory.

Looking more fluid than he had since straining his hamstring in early January, sophomore point guard Melo Trimble led Maryland (24-6, 12-5 Big Ten Conference) with 18 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds and five assists.
