Maryland point guard Melo Trimble has been named one of 16 finalists to make the 12-man roster for the 2015 U.S. Pan-American men’s basketball team.
The rising sophomore was one of 22 players invited to the tryout and has now made the first cut. The finalists will continue competing at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., until July 12. A decision on the final 12-man roster is expected before then.
The tournament at the Pan American games will be held from July 21-25 in Toronto.
While Trimble is the only Maryland player vying for a spot, Terps coach Mark Turgeon has been serving as a court coach during the training camp.
