Among the rash of departures after coach DJ Durkin's first year in charge of the Maryland football team, Mike Minter's was perhaps most surprising.
The junior guard and Severna Park native started 11 games in 2016 and, after a medical-redshirt year in 2013, had another year of eligibility available. He decided not to take it.
Now, thanks to an interview Tuesday with the Severna Park Voice, there's more clarity as to why.
Minter, an Academic All-Big Ten Conference honoree and former walk-on set to graduate this spring with a degree in kinesiology, said he is mulling over several job offers.
