Swiss forward Emma Chardon signs with Maryland women’s basketball

The Maryland women’s basketball program added some more depth to their front court on Wednesday, as 2021 commit Emma Chardon officially signed her National Letter of Intent.

A 6’3 forward from Switzerland, Chardon has played professionally for the Geneve Basket club in her home country since 2017. In the 2019-20 season, Chardon averaged 11.8 points and 7.9 rebounds with a team-high field goal percentage of 65.5 percent while starting at small forward for the team. Chardon announced her commitment to Maryland back in June 2020.

Although Chardon will be operating in a new environment playing basketball in the NCAA, Maryland women’s basketball head coach Brenda Frese doesn’t seem too worried about the 6’3 commit’s ability to produce in a new setting, and is instead excited to bring the Swiss product’s versatility to College Park.
