Maryland women’s basketball guard Shyanne Sellers was selected with the 17th overall pick by the Golden State Valkyries in the 2025 WNBA Draft Monday night.
Headed into the draft, Sellers was a projected first-round pick. She fell further than expected, but was finally selected with the fifth pick in the second round.
The Valkyries begin its first season in the WNBA in 2025, as Sellers joins former Terp Chloe Bibby, who she was teammates with in 2021-22.
As of Monday, eight former Maryland players are in the WNBA.
The 6-foot-2 guard is the 23rd Maryland player to be selected in the WNBA Draft.
