The Maryland football program has its first 2017 commit from outside its traditional local recruiting area.
Three-star Langston Hughes (Ga.) wide receiver Sean Nelson committed to the Terrapins on Saturday, according to a report from 247Sports. Nelson, who has 14 other scholarship offers in total, picked Maryland over Arizona, Louisville and West Virginia, among others.
Nelson is rated the No. 83 receiver in the country and No. 57 player in Georgia. He's also listed at 6'2, which would make him Maryland's tallest scholarship receiver if the Terps don't add more between now and the 2017 season.
