Scott Shafer, Walt Bell on three-year deals with Maryland; Pete Lembo on two-year contract

Maryland defensive coordinator Scott Shafer and offensive coordinator Walt Bell are both on three-year contracts with the university, and assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Pete Lembo is on a two-year contract, according to memoranda of understanding obtained by The Baltimore Sun in a public records request.

Shafer’s contract is worth $2.25 million, while Bell’s is worth $500,000 annually for a total of $1.5 million. Lembo will make $350,000 per year for two years.

Shafer, the former coach at Syracuse, will be paid a base salary of $400,000 each season, with varying supplemental pay each season.
