Report: Alabama hires former Maryland interim coach Mike Locksley

Former Maryland offensive coordinator and interim coach Mike Locksley has landed on Nick Saban's staff at reigning national champion Alabama as an offensive analyst, according to an AL.com report.

Locksley wasn't retained by Maryland coach DJ Durkin after Durkin was hired in December.

Locksley returned to Maryland, where he was an assistant in the late 1990s and early 2000s, as offensive coordinator after he was fired from New Mexico in 2011. The Washington native, who was regarded as one of the area's top recruiters, struggled to put together a consistent offense with a unit beset by injuries and inconsistency at the quarterback position.
