Junior quarterback Perry Hills has been named Maryland’s starting quarterback, Terrapins Coach Randy Edsall announced Friday afternoon.
The announcement comes after a lengthy three-way quarterback battle and just eight days before the team’s season opener against Richmond in College Park. Redshirt junior Caleb Rowe is listed as the Hills’ backup. Senior Daxx Garman, thought to be in contention with Hills for the start job earlier this week, is currently the team’s third-stringer.
With much of the attention surrounding Rowe and the Oklahoma State transfer Garman, Hills entered camp as the dark horse but has been the most consistent of the group and graded out the best during evaluations following the second week of camp.
