No. 13 Maryland men’s basketball had a simple task to complete Saturday against Northwestern in its final regular season game — win and it would secure a double-bye in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament.

The contest was marred with ugly plays and scrappy sequences, and for long stretches, the Terps could not find a way to shrug off the resilient Wildcats. But on senior day, Maryland emerged victorious behind a 6-of-11 second half from three, winning 74-61.

The Terps have generally been sharp at home in the early minutes, feeding off the Xfinity Center crowd. However, Saturday served as a sluggish start.
