Maryland was one of the first teams to learn their fate on Sunday evening. The Terps landed in the very deep South Region that also included Arizona, California, Kansas, Miami (Fla.), and Villanova.
South Dakota State received an automatic bid to the field after winning the Summit League Tournament early last week.
Coach Scott Nagy has accumulated a 167-97 mark while at the school and has led the Jackrabbits to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
